Get Ready to Wremble!

I Am Jimmy Wremble Debuts at Historic Mayslake Estate

Live Band Provides Music for the Original Score

When Jimmy Wremble, a humble waiter, swaps bags with a hunted agent, he is thrust into a world of espionage, revolving around the search for Alexander the Great’s scepter. As Jimmy bumbles across the globe, he has to stay ahead of the villainous organization S.U.S.P.I.C.I.O.U.S.

The Riverside Center for Education is proud to announce the premier of I Am Jimmy Wremble, an original musical written by local educators, Dan Janeiro and Peter Searby. The show will run May 17th and May 18th at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oakbrook, and will feature a live professional band comprised of musicians who play throughout the Chicago area.

Audiences are in for a comedic treat as Jimmy Wremble, is armed with spy tech a la James Bond, but saddled with the intellect of Inspector Gadget. He is tasked with beating the nefarious S.U.S.P.I.C.I.O.U.S. to the scepter of Alexander the Great while at the same time saving the world. Of course Wremble has a beautiful partner who much of the time is the brains, and, often, the brawn, of the operation.

I Am Jimmy Wremble is an adventure with a global soundtrack. Searby’s original songs reflect a wide spectrum of cultures and include Brazilian rhythms, Klezmer tunes, Parisian swing, Gypsy music, Greek folk, and Reggae songs.

The Riverside Center for Education was founded on the notion that children, and boys particularly, need a landscape of action where they can become young men of courage and imagination. Riverside’s imaginative and adventurous curriculum is designed to develop in boys the skills and knowledge needed to define them as men of character and true makers of culture.

I Am Jimmy Wremble is the second original Riverside production. The first, Bound for Glory, was performed last spring, also at Mayslake, and this April, a professionally produced album of the music was released to rave review at a concert to benefit Riverside’s theatre program.

The hope is that through inventive content and artistic projects Riverside will not only affect educational thinking in its own community, but also will be able to grow its adventure-based vision as other, like-minded institutions adopt its model and curriculum. Both Bound for Glory and I Am Jimmy Wremble are available for use by other schools or theaters, with the proceeds funding Riverside’s unique offerings.

Cost is $12.00, Adults; $8.00, Ages 8-17; Free, Ages 7 and under; $48.00, Family Rate.
