I always thought this old Disney cartoon about Ben Franklin and Amos the mouse was a good dramatic way to enter into the days of the founding fathers. It’s a common phrase to say we wish we could have been “a fly on the wall” when talking about events we wish we could have witnessed. A great way to engage the young in learning about history is to make up these “fly on the wall” characters, like Amos, and write dramatic scripts based on historical events. In Ben and Me, Disney does a fabulous job of bringing the young back in time to the American Founding.
