If you ever are walking in the Chihuahuan desert of Texas and you see one of these…  Go over and cuddle it. Just kidding. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! For the creature you just saw is the Giant red headed centipede, each of its legs has a razor sharp pincer with almost as much venom as a scorpion. This centipede belongs to the family Scolopendridae and can grow up to nine inches!!! The red headed centipede feeds manly on insects by stunning or killing them with a venomous bite. Here is a closeup of its head.

Red headed centipedes are not aggressive but will bite if they are threatened. These arthropods have 21 pairs of legs 20 of them are poisonous. The females lay about 15-16 eggs, and coil around her eggs to protect them .images-1
