Materials:
Small forked stick(or some sort of small stand)
Soldering iron
2 Large bar magnets
6x6in.Wood base
Glue
2 2in.Dowels
Wire Cutters
Small nail
3ft. Thick copper wire
Mini LED
1.Take your wood base and glue both magnets on a few inches apart with the north and south poles facing each other.
2.Wrap and glue wire tightly about 3 or 4 turns around the end of one of the dowels leaving about 3 inches on either side. Nail the other end of the dowel to the tip of the other dowel,so that they form a right angle.
- Glue the two dowels down so that they are in between the magnets but a few inches back facing forward. Make sure the dowels are glued with the dowel without the coil on the base and the one with the coil facing toward the magnets.
4.Cut the wire around the dowel on the top and the bottom so that it forms two half circles with one end each. You may even want to make two cuts and remove the wire in between to make sure there is no connection between them.
5.Take a piece of wire about 6 inches long and bend it in half. Then bend both half pieces one third of the way down away from each other. Then in about half an inch bend them forward in a right angle. Now in about one to one and a half inches bend them towards each other. Then when the ends of the wire are touching with room to spare bend the wire forward.
6.Place the ends of bent wire on the dowels with the ends pressing against the coil on either side with the coil in the middle. The wide part of the wire should fit in between the magnets with room for it to spin.
7.Use the small sick or stand to hold the folded end of the wire. To hold the two wire ends on the coil you mite want to use a rubber band to hold them together but don’t do it to tightly or it won’t spin.
8.Solder the ends of the coil to the positive and negative ends of the mini LED.
You may want to craft a handle of some sort for the folded end of the wire.
