This week on torpedoes away, I, the admiral, will tell you about the U-505. The U-505 is a German u-boat. It is a type IXC. The type IXC sub was a very successful u-boat during World War II, wreaking havoc on the Allies throughout the war. The aim of these subs was so good that they sank hundreds of ships! The U-505 is one of these ships. It was secretly captured by the U.S navy on June 4, 1944. The U-505 weighs 750-tons. It measures 252 feet in length, and it has a range of 13,450 miles while cruising on the surface at 10 knots and 63 miles submerged. The sub had a crew of about sixty people. That is how the U-505 works, but how it got captured is another story. This is the Admiral signing off.
