A war chariot is a four-wheeled wagon pulled by either two or more horses, or Onager (half horse- half donkey). Some other animals over time have been used too. The first was designed and built in Mesopotamia, who introduced it (to put it mildly) to the Egyptians and to Eastern Europe, in the bronze and Iron Age 3000 years ago. Chariots were mostly used in big wars. They are the ancient equivalent to tanks. They can move quickly and do a lot of damage. The weapons used by the warrior on the chariot were short composite bows, slings, javelins, swords, and spears. The wheels on the chariots started out as plain wheels and then shields were put on them and blades were put in the middle them. They are most associated with the Egyptians, who used them often because they were so effective in big battles.
