Our Ranger Sailing Trip

By October 2, 2014

The recent Ranger Sailing trip was a refreshing and adventurous journey on Lake Michigan. The crisp September air breathed life into our lunges as we launched out from Navy Pier into the blue waters of our Great Lake! Forty-five Rangers were on the boat: a four masted galleon called the Tall Ship Windy. The sailing adventure was a great educational experience for the Rangers. They learned basic knot tying, how the rigging of the ship works, and about the physics of sailing. The teachers on Tall Ship Windy

are not only knowledgable in the nautical lexicon, they are also entertaining actors who are witty and fun.

Thanks to all you Rangers for joining us for this adventure! We hope to have more sailing trips in the future, though the winter is fast approaching, so our next trip will take place next spring/summer.

I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and sky
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by
