A Resouceful Blob by Seumas D.

By November 10, 2017

If you were swimming along the bottom of the ocean, you would never think twice about an innocuous-looking blob sitting on the sandy floor. Sea cucumbers burrow themselves into the sand and unfurl their feathery tentacles. They sit there for hours feeding on microscopic creatures which get caught in their forest of tentacles. At the first sign of trouble, however, the forest instantly disappears. These creatures know no fear because they have no brains. A nerve ring around their mouth functions as a brain of sorts; it tells them when to eat, sleep and fight. Heaven help the unsuspecting fish which might prod at the strange looking cuke, for when it senses danger, sticky, toxic guts shoot out of its backside — what a strangely resourceful blob!
