Ave! (That’s Latin for hail.) I’m the Greek gumshoe, And we have some stuff to talk about. We have run out of Greek weapons so I have switched to Roman weapons. (Notice the Roman beginning.) So today I have hunted out a Roman weapon for you. It is called the Plumbata.
The Plumbata is a dart that was carried during the later part of empire. It looks like a short arrow with a round ball attached to the middle. A roman soldier could attach six of them to the inside of his shield. The plumbatas went further than javelins and had weights on them so they had good penetration. (Plumbata literally means lead-weighted dart.) They were greatly effective because they allowed the heavy Calvary to operate like archers.
