Summer at Riverside… are you ready for an adventure?  Our New Summer Camps have been designed for the hands-on, imaginative child ready to embrace summer and the beauty, majesty and creativity it offers as a fresh landscape for learning.

Each camp is unique and meant to inspire and enliven the hearts of the young with a spirit of adventure and creativity.

Summer Adventure Theatre

The Summer Musical

Have you ever wondered what your life might look like if it was a musical? Harold has. The only difference between you and Harold is that he has a strange ability to actually make it happen.
Harold wants to write a hit musical, but he works in a box shop in Columbus, Ohio. Then one day, a misadventure comes his way, and he finds himself living that musical he is meant to write.
June 22 – August 1 Mon-Wed, except for the last week which is everyday. 
Performances: July 30-31 (7pm), August (12:30pm)
Cost: $250
Time: 1-4pm
Co-ed, ages 8-15

Folk Camps

Intermediate & Advanced Folk Lessons for boys & girls in the musical traditions of American Folk Music, and dramatic vignettes based on narrative roots of American Folk music. One week of Folk Music and Drama that will inspire young musicians, and help them develop their musical skills and steep them in the story of America’s Songs.

Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Uke, Bass, Banjo, Harmonica

Hero Quest

Back by popular demand this beloved creative project comes to camp! The best thing about HeroQuest is more HeroQuest! This super fun and imaginative game provides the framework for creative writing and storytelling. All who enter here will be tasked with creating their own narrative and describing every room in exquisite detail. They will learn how to narrate a story with confidence as they guide their friends through their quest.

Comic Book Writing

Create a short Comic book or short graphic novel. Learn story planning using a Hero Journeys, writing and crafting dialogue, and how to draw in a comic book style.  Create an original story or adapt a scene from literature.

The Beatles Band

The Beatles is one of the greatest bands of the 20th century. This summer, your son or daughter will have the opportunity to learn how to play and sing the songs of the Beatles. The focus album for this session is: A Hard Day’s Night

Riverside Singers

Intermediate: Dive deeper into the world of singing with more advanced songs and harmonies. Revisit good vocal technique and learn to blend as an ensemble with some fun and upbeat part-singing.
Beginner: Come and learn the basics of singing with Riverside. This beginner class will go over the fundamentals of good vocal technique as well as build confidence for solo singing in a safe and fun atmosphere. Learn three songs with solos and perform them for your friends and family.

June 15th- 18th 1 Week camp, Monday – Thursday
Cost: $100 per student
Intermediate: 9:00am – 11:30am age 12- 16
Beginner: 1:00pm – 3:30pm age 8- 12

Song Writing

Learn the art of songwriting in an engaging and creative camp that delves into this art. Boys and girls will learn about different music genres, rhyme scheme, meter, word choice, and storytelling techniques in song. They will learn how to write songs, and play them.

Naturalist Storytellers

Naturalist observation and sketching creating stories with animal characters imitating the woodland warriors from the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.

July 6th- 15th Two week camps, Monday – Wednesday

Age 8 – 12

Social Dance

Come explore the joy of three dance styles from three different eras. You will learn the basics of Swing, Waltz and English country line dancing. Learn the history of these dances and how to perform them confidently.
