The Riverside Studio for Girls is a weekly gathering devoted to the imaginative expression of story through the arts. The Riverside Studio for Girls was founded through a collaborative effort with Mrs. Corbett Burick in 2022 and has now been passed on to Mrs. Jocelyn Jansen and the Studio Team.
Studio focuses on the arts including dance, music, and crafting along with a variety of other creative arts. Girls will travel together into stories both old and new, unearthing their own creative voices as they learn how to do the following:
Use movement and technique to interpret music and story.
Create dynamic characters and stories through soulful expression, collaborative writing, and play acting.
Enter into the story by completing historic crafts and other projects authentic to different time periods.
Develop skills and fostering friendships through creative endeavors and performances.
The Riverside Studio is a weekly four-hour program. We begin each day with prayer and then move into a creative project, dance, and songs that are directly related to the book we will be focusing on for that month.
The girls will develop a love of story through their own creativity and expression, cultivate the joy of a collective sisterhood rooted in the Great Narrative, and see the connection between meaningful creative work and shaping culture.
The foundation of Riverside Studio for Girls comes from St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians, “…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” ~ Phil 4:8.
Riverside Studio for Girls follows the spirit of Riverside, focusing on imagination, adventure, storytelling, friendship and most importantly, our pilgrimage to heaven.
