BERWYN, IL-On 12/7/14, three vandals cut the heads of the statues of Mary and Joseph at St. Odilo Church in Berwyn, Illinois. They also knocked over the statues of the baby Jesus.
The destruction was found later that day, when churchgoers were coming to the Parish for a special series of prayers in advance of the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Two days later the vandals came back the throw eggs at the rest of the nativity scene, but were arrested by the Berwyn police.
Pastor Anthony Brankin said that he wants to meet the vandals. “I’m hoping to meet them and their parents and hoping to see if we can get these boys on the right track,” he said.
