Riverside Creative Arts Camp is an opportunity for boys and girls to grow in imagination, creativity, fellowship, and faith. Together they learn how to sing, draw/paint, dance, and play musical instruments. The Arts have the power to awaken a greater vision of life in each person. The Arts inspire us, enliven us, and give us hope.

At our Creative Arts Camp, the Riverside Tutors lead the boys and girls though four classes: musical instruments, choir, dance, and sketching/painting. We also offer classes in fiber arts & sewing led by Jocelyn Jansen. Creative Arts Camp I is for younger students, ages 8-11. Creative Arts Camp II is for older students, ages 12-14.

Riverside is teaming up with Jocelyn Jansen to offer two classes in the art of sewing. Jocelyn has instructed classes in fiber arts at Riverside, and has been the creative force behind Riverside’s theatre costuming for the past 8 years.
These programs will be hosted in the Jansen home and cost for the classes will go towards supplies and to support Riverside’s theatre program.

Intermediate Sewing Class

Description: Bring your sewing machines and make your own embroidered pillows.  We will have two designs.  One will be for a pillow case and the other will be for a throw pillow.  We will spend the first day reviewing basic sewing skills with your machines, sewing up the pillows, and creating embroidered designs.  We will spend the second day embroidering and finishing up the pillows.  There will also be time for games and music with the Jansen girls.

It would be helpful if girls are already comfortable with their machines, know how to thread them, and can sew a straight stitch independently.
