Javelins are a medieval weapon that you throw at the enemy.  They are similar to a spear only shorter and lighter.  The Javelin was the main weapon for the Welsh and was very successful against the English. When the English invaders were attacking, the Welsh would  shower Javelins on them and then retreat doing great damage to the heavily armoured and exhausted English soldiers.  Few Welch were ever killed.
