SM Surcouf

By March 2, 2015

This week on Torpedoes Away I, The Admiral, am going to talk about the French submarine, the SM Surcouf. The Surcouf fought during World War II and was almost captured by the Germans when they invaded France. After it escaped France, it made its way to England. When it arrived in England, it was then made a part of a squad that consisted of English and French ships and submarines. The Surcouf was 110 m (361 ft) long. Its speed was 18.5 kt surfaced and 10 kt submerged. It had a crew of 118 men. The Surcouf was the largest sub in existence during World War II. This is the admiral signing off.
